ABOUT THE COLLECTION

Our collection of handmade leather handbags has been evolving since the 1980s.

Shape has always been an influence in the design process, whether looking at structured or soft designs. One of our very first
creations was the padded fruit bag, and we later added the Bulb, Petal and Kerala, which remain in our collection today.

Our collection is divided into two different categories. On the one hand, we’ve got the more tailored look, creating structured shapes
using clean, simple lines, influenced by 1930s architecture and ceramics. If this is your style, take a look at the Scoop shoulder bag for
a modern twist on a classic design. On the other hand, we’ve take high-quality leather to create a softer, more casual look, with organic,
fluid lines inspired by nature; the finer details are influenced by past couture designs. For example, the bell bag is a double-flap design
that has been in our collection for many years and has been re-designed to follow the seasons’ trends. In our current collection you’ll
find examples of this design in the Lindsay bag, and the smaller Louise.

We specialize in colour, offering unique combinations that cannot be found in other collections, and we are constantly adding new leathers
to the range, ensuring each design is unique.

In our collection we offer handbags for all occasions: leather shoulder bags, leather rucksacks, leather tote bags, leather weekend bags
and special occasion evening bags.

Attention to detail is important in creating every one of our leather bags, and we use contrast piping for decorative detailing and
handmade toggles for fastenings, each element uniquely identifying a Jane Hopkinson Leather Bag.

 

The Kerala was inspired by the beautiful, rolling rice barges on the backwaters of Southern India. This is a design classic, a
beautifully sculptured evening or day bag, easily accessible and with plenty of room inside.

Elegant in shape, the Scoop leather shoulder bag is another design classic, with beautiful sculptural qualities and sweeping
architectural panels. The structured leather shoulder bag has contrasting panels with a simple, clean lines following the
contours of the body. The Scoop leather shoulder handbag is a fantastic bag for day wear or smart occasions. It has a zip top

• All Goods are subject to availability - due to demand and availability of leathers we may not be able to supply your order but please contact us or place an order, which will take approximately 4 weeks.

2) Buying goods

To make a purchase you will need to complete the following on the website.

Your Order only constitutes an offer to purchase Goods from us, and does not form a binding contract until accepted by us.

On receipt of your Order, we will send you an Order acknowledgement email to the email address, which you provide in the Order process. This Order acknowledgement email will contain your Order number, details of the Goods ordered and a delivery estimate. Note that this email is only to acknowledge that your order has been received, and is not acceptance by us of any offers to purchase Goods.

We must receive full payment of the price of the Goods before we can accept any offers.

Goods that are in stock will be dispatched within 7 working days, any bags that are ordered will carry a four week waiting time and you will receive an e-mail confirming the dispatch date on all goods.

All prices and charges on the Website are in UK pounds sterling. Delivery charges may apply and these will be displayed in the order process.

All prices are, unless otherwise stated, inclusive of VAT and other applicable taxes.

3) Returning the goods

This section states your right to return your goods if you do not want to keep them.

We pride ourselves on our customer service and hope that you are delighted with your purchase. However should you wish to return your order you can do so within 7 days of receiving it for an exchange or refund (excluding original postage). We recommend that you obtain a certificate of posting when you send your parcel back and ask that you phone or email us before posting so that we can expect it. The item must be returned unused and in its original packaging to:

FAQs

Are all your products handmade?

Yes all our designs are handmade in our workshop in Ditchling Sussex. The designs are hand cut using a stanley knife ensuring the best part of the leather is used.
They are stitched using a Adler sewing machine and the threads we use are GutermannTera 40 very high tensile strength.
All the leather fittings toggles and fasteners are hand cut and handmade in our workshop.

 

What type of leathers do you use?

Most of our leathers are sourced in Italy.
We use mainly cow hides 0.9 – 1.1mm. Sculptured bags need a tight finish. Soft bags need to have a softer feel to create a more fluid look.
We use many different printed leathers which are either embossed onto the leather or heat foiled. Ostrich printed leathers, anaconda prints and snake prints. 

 

How should I care for my Jane Hopkinson bag?

With reasonable care and attention your bag should last you for many many years.
We recommend you spray it with a Collonil waterstop spray which is a high performance waterproofing spray for all leathers, nubuck, suede and printed leathers. The Collonil waterstop spray prevents dirt penetration and contains UV filters to prevent colour fade.
Be aware that dark coloured dyes from clothing can transfer onto light coloured leathers and vice versa. See here for more information.

Do you make to order?
Yes we do carry out a made to order service. We only work within our own designs and will endeavour to match the leather to your outfit, whether it be for a special occasion or an event.
Depending on what you require there will be an increase from the original price anything from
10-20%.

We store archived orders on a private and secure server using an ecommerce platform, J2 Store.

We process orders by logging into our J2Store, which is hosted on a secure server - this server is only accessible by two individuals, who are directors of the company Jane Hopkinson Bags. 
J2 Store, as a system we use, has no access to your data.

We store addresses on a spreadsheet that is password protected and will not be used by third parties.

How do we use personal information?

We use the personal information from you to include the following:

• To provide you with information about our services, latest offers and events.
• To process payments we have received from you.
• Handle orders, deliver products and communicate with you about your order

Worldpay

Share confirmation of payment  with us. Worldpay just take your cart information and corresponding price from our checkout so that you can be charged accordingly

Worldpay utilise:

• Your full name and email,
• Shipping address and billing address for security purposes in order to process your transaction.
• Worldpay also take your cart information and the corresponding price from our checkout page so that you can be charged accordingly.
• They then confirm with us whether your payment has been successful.

The input of your bank details & transaction process are all handled off site by Worldpay's self hosted secure gateway.

We do not handle your card details at any point in the process nor store any of your card information.

We use a full SSL certificate to ensure all the information we send is encrypted, including style sheets and layout information over to the Worldpay payment screen to create a coherent flow in your shopping experience.

SHIPPING & FORFILLMENT

 

We currently share shipping details with Royal Mail - they use these in order to deliver your parcel.

We use your/the recipient's address and name, as well as email addresses and/or phone numbers you provide, so that with Royal Mail services we can fulfil your order's delivery.
We require your address/recipient's address, and your email / and, or phone number in order to fulfil your order with us.

If upon checkout you have inputted your phone number and or email address you will receive notifications on your order status, or we may get in contact with you regarding your order if necessary e.g. if there is a problem with your order. 

We are awaiting the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) from Royal Mail, and will include them on this site soon.

Print your address labels & packing slips

We print a physical copy/ies of your address in the form of shipping label.
We don’t keep physical copies of your address unless you have given us consent to do so.

We can observe an i.p address relating to your behaviour on our site - this does not synchronise with your personal data.

Due to the fact these bags are all handmade in our workshop there will be a 3-4 week wait on delivery. However if we have this item in stock we will notify you sooner once your order is placed. We will also contact you before the order will be sent through e-mail.
